LTO-8
Linear Tape-Open (LTO) is a tape storage technology collaboratively developed by HP, IBM and Seagate Technology.
LTO-8 is a tape format that was released at the end of 2017.
One LTO-8 cartridge provides up to 32TB of compressed storage capacity (12TB uncompressed).
The sustained data transfer rate is up to 900 MB per second (compressed).
It also offers partitioning, encryption and WORM functionality equal to the previous LTO-5, LTO-6 and LTO-7 generations.
The LTO-8 can read and write LTO-7 tapes. LTO-8 has more than doubled the capacity (compressed and uncompressed) compared to the LTO-7 drive.
